Common Signs of Hearing Loss

Early changes can be subtle. You might notice difficulty hearing in noise, needing repeats, turning the TV up, missing the phone or doorbell, hearing mumbling or muffled speech, tinnitus (ringing or buzzing), or avoiding conversations and social situations. If some of these sound familiar, a hearing test is recommended.

How Adult Appointments work

We visit your home or workplace (quiet space needed). An adult hearing assessment takes about 30–45 minutes and typically includes:
• Pure-tone audiometry to measure hearing thresholds and identify degree, type and pattern of loss.
Tympanometry to check middle-ear function using calibrated equipment.
Speech audiometry where helpful, to gauge how clearly speech is understood.
QuickSIN speech-in-noise for people concerned about hearing in background noise; this gives a quick, objective measure of real-world listening.

You will receive a clear, detailed report with results and recommendations.

How Children’s Appointments Work (age 3+)
We can assess at home or at school (quiet room). A child assessment usually takes around 30 minutes and includes tympanometry and age-appropriate hearing tests:
• Ages 3–5: Conditioned play audiometry (CPA)—toy-based listening games that keep children engaged while we measure hearing.
• Ages 6+: Button-press tasks similar to adult testing.
A detailed report including recommendations will also be provided.
