How does Mobile Paediatric Hearing Test work?

Hearing test appointments can be performed at the child’s home or school in Sydney St George & Sutherland Shire as long as it’s relatively quiet.

Please send a booking request online or over the phone to select your preferred time (due to the home visit nature of the appointment, we will aim to arrive within 30 minutes of the agreed time) and fill in your details, your booking request will be sent for approval. Once your booking request is approved, your appointment is booked and an invoice will be sent to you via email or SMS.

A hearing test for a child usually takes around 30 minutes. For children between 3-5 years old, we usually use a method called conditioned play audiometry (CPA), which uses toys to direct the child’s attention on the listening task and turns it into a game. For children 6 years and above, the testing process is similar to adults’ hearing test, where a child is required to press a button every time a sound is heard. Tympanometry, an objective test of the middle ear function using the latest equipment is also routinely performed. A detailed hearing test report will be provided after the hearing test.
